The Kapaliswarar Temple will soon be witnessing its annual festival, which will begin on March 10, with the traditional hoisting of the temple standard. For ten days, the deities will be brought in procession twice a day, on various mounts. Among these, certain days are special – and one of these is the VrShabha vAhanam procession when Kapali will go around Mylapore on a gigantic silver bull. This event  will begin late at night on Friday, March 15 and will end at the temple tower on Saturday, 16that 5.30 am.

What better occasion than this to enjoy a heritage tour of the temple and its environs with historian Sriram V? Come learn about the festival, its unique traditions and customs and experience the colour and gaiety that are so integral to it. The walk, on Friday 15th, will begin at 10.00 pm and last two hours, ending with snacks. Charges per head – Rs 800 + GST 5%.
