FM Radio. (AIR Madras first to get it in India).
Some very apt names have been suggested so far.
From the old Madras: Dr. Rangachari (does his statue still stand?),
Social worker Ambujammal and her father, Congress leader Srinivasa Iyengar who was instrumental in convening the AvaDi Congress session…
The TKS Bros who in oTRAvADai Theater and all over Chennai and beyond, staged innumerable plays of theirs (they wrote, produced, directed and played in them).
In the same genre, Manohar–has he been mentioned?
If other schools are mentioned, why not Vidyodaya and Sharada Vidyalaya?
Koteesvaraiyyar?
Great list so far.
Otravaadai theatre deserves a mention on its own merits. Didn’t S.G. Kittappa perform in Otravaadai theatre without a mike in those days? Need to add him and K.B. Sundarambal.
Otravaadai theatre was also the venue for M.R. Radha’s Keemayanam and Rathakanneer. Radha needs to be on the list also.
Manohar and TKS brothers are great additions. How about other great stage directors and actors starting with Nawab Rajamanickam, and others such as S.V. Sahasranamam, Cho Ramasami, Nagesh.
Sister Subbalakshmi….
And Kamala Subramaniam….
Adding to the list with apologies for any duplicates….
