This morning, I was at the Kapaliswarar Temple at an early hour. And so after prayers, I had time to wander around taking pictures of some of the vahanams as they are being prepared for the remaining five days of the festival.

The coming days are really big in terms of crowds and logistics.

Here is the Vrshabha Vahanam…

Assorted canopies and chapparams are getting ready for the Arupattu Moovar procession to be held on the 4th of April…

Some of the stars among the 63 will travel in their own canopies like this one…

The Naga Vahanam I think is already over…

There are several assorted vahanams of which I am not certain as to when they come out. Such as the Gaja…

This one is a magnificent vahanam. On the last day, well into the night, the newly-wed Kapali and Karpagambal will be brought on Ravana and taken in procession. Accompanying them will be a single clarionet.
