According to Veena S Balachander (and what would we do for vumboids without him?), critics could be classified into – good, respectable, bad, indifferent, responsible, half-baked, ignored, pampered, well-intentioned, decent, crooked and irresponsible, perverted, sadistic and venomous. He recommended the title of Sangita Kolaishikhamani for critics, who he felt were the mafia of the music world. He also felt it was high time musicians, who had hitherto trained only on tamburas, veenas, violins, nagaswarams, mridangams and tavils, also trained on soda-bottles, sticks, lathis and cycle chains, all to be used on critics.
