My article on this stalwart appeared in today’s Hindu. Somewhere some editing has taken place and it now reads as though Pillai married Bhootalinga Aiyar’s daughter. This is incorrect. He married his cousin, daughter of his guru and uncle, Veeruswami Pillai.
