Hi Friends,
It has been a while since we had one of our fun and informative tours to historic parts of India. And many of you have been writing to ask us as to when and where the next one will be. We are happy to inform you that our next heritage tour is to Bidar and Golconda, with some Hyderabad thrown in.

Many of you came with us on a memorable tour of Hampi several years ago. That looked at the history of the Vijayanagar Empire. We now move over to their bitter rivals and arch enemies – the Bahmani Sultanate and its splinter kingdoms, all of whom came together in 1565 to destroy Vijayanagar and then fell out again. Until the Mughals came along and swallowed them whole. In this tour, we explore the history and heritage of the Bahmani sultanate and two of its successors – the Barids of Bidar and the Qutbs of Golconda. And we follow that up with the history of the Nizams – fabulously wealthy, decidedly eccentric and lavish patrons of architecture and art.
Bidar – A Forgotten Part of Deccan

Bidar is a historic expanse forgotten by time. And Golconda is its exact opposite – a heritage spot visited by most tourists to Hyderabad. But to see them through the eyes of Sriram V is something else. And then we have some magnificent monuments and palaces thrown in – the Qutb Shahi tombs, the Chowmahalla Palace and magnificent Falaknuma, the mirror to the sky.
