A Walk at the TN Police Museum, May 14, 2022

The Tamil Nadu Police is a 163-year-old institution that governs our safety and security. Though the history of what was once Madras Police is traced officially only to 1859, the history of security in this region goes back to many centuries earlier. From the time of the British, there is better documentation of the police force and it is an exciting tale of heroism, much struggle, lots of exciting mysteries, many tales with a twist and of course nail-biting finishes.

To showcase its history the TN Police has put together a magnificent museum in the old office of the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. The building itself is a grand heritage structure, which has a continuous history of more than 150 years. With the Commissioner’s Office shifting to EVK Sampath Road, the old building has been lovingly restored and converted into a museum housing all kinds of interesting police memorabilia.

Join Sriram V on a heritage tour of this TN Police Museum on May 14th, Saturday between 4.00 and 6.00 pm. On the anvil are some great stories of a great institution.
