This lockdown has gone on for so long that I am missing the traffic, the blocks and everything else associated with it. Never thought there would come a day when I would look back with nostalgia at all this. So here goes, with due apologies to Julie Andrews, Rodgers and Hammerstein
Noisy big buses
Lurching through roads
Cars and two wheelers
Yellow autos
Exhaust gases and pollution ratings
These are a few of my favourite things
When lockdown bites
When boredom stings
When I am feeling sad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I donβt feel so bad
Two letter cuss words
And savu grakkis
Kasmalam, Poromboke and Somaris
Honking at signals
Waiting for green
These are a few of my favourite things (When lockdown bites…)
Parents without helmets
Driving their children
Jumping all signals
Rushing with abandon
The fight with policeman as he jumps in
These are a few of my favourite things (When lockdown bites…)
Broken sidewalks
Hoardings and posters
Stalin and EPS
Looking on road users
Noise and chaos, hustle and bustle
These are a few of my favourite things
Just so that people don’t set it to their own tunes, I am providing a recording, with my poor singing skills on how to render the song in correct raga, tala and speed –
Superb Sriram.
Hahahaha…very nice and punny ! ππΎπ

Fabulous!
Only when we lose what we have, the value of it dawns. At other times, we are dreaming or ruing about what we do not have. Will this lockdown make people more humane to each other, stop spitting on the roads, follow queues etc ?
