Yes, we know that half of Madras walks in the Boat Club area, even those who live in far- flung suburbs such as Anna Nagar, Valasaravakkam and Nolambur. But how many pause to consider the history of the place? A history that stretches back to colourful characters such as John DeMonte, George Moubray, AJ Yorke and Isabella Napier? Boat Club has never lacked colourful characters and even now has several but for those we need a tour to be conducted in 2098.
Come, join historian Sriram V on a tour of the Boat Club area, culminating with breakfast at the Boat Club on Sunday, August 5, 2018. The tour begins at 6.00 am at the Boat Club gate and ends there, followed by breakfast at 8.00 am.
