The 91st December Music Season is in progress. And what better place to savour it in than the Music Academy, the institution that began it all? The Music Academy is 89 years old and yet it is conducting its 91st conference and concerts even while the Season turns 90. This is just one bewildering fact among the hundreds that the Music Academy is home to. Come and listen to them all from Sriram V, the resident historian, followed by breakfast on Christmas Day, at the Music Academy.

And while you are there, feast your eyes on the trowel that Jawaharlal Nehru used to lay the foundation stone of the Music Academy, the oldest Carnatic music book in existence, the Muttuswami Dikshitar portrait with a small difference and the oldest surviving Bharata Natyam brochure. The tour begins at 6.00 am and ends at 7.30 am followed by breakfast at the Academy canteen. Also note, the morning concert at the Music Academy that day will be a violin performance by Sangita Kalanidhi TN Krishnan- an event not to be missed.
