Till the 1970s, only three establishments were a part of the December Music Season – The Music Academy, the Indian Fine Arts Society (IFAS), and the Tamil Isai Sangam, founded respectively, in 1928, 1932 and 1943. The Season proper, in the sense of more than one sabha participating, began only in 1933, when the Indian Fine Arts Society conducted its first series.
