The Sri Krishna Gana Sabha was founded among others, by the Telugu actor Chittoor V Nagiah. But a Sabha with a stronger film connection is the Narada Gana Sabha. It first operated on land belonging to actress Ambika and its inaugural prayer was sung by Ragini (of Travancore Sisters fame). Its auditorium on TTK Road came up thanks in part to fund-raising drama and dance performances respectively by Sivaji Ganesan and Hema Malini.
