For the sake of all those our city lovers who could not make it to the Week’s celebrations, Sriram, i urge you to post your blog everyday reg the prev day’s lecture. I am also asking Sridhar Joshi to do so, as he did last year. Or give me a link where i could read abt the prev day lecture. Do it for the sake of real Madras lovers.
Hi, I’m mighty excited abt the madras week celebrations..I have a query. Why is it that most of the lectures, discussions are held in upmarket – 5-star hotels. Guess, only the élite’crowd would turn up. It would be great, if all the sessions are held in schools, sabhas or more accessible places. And the celebrations would pull in people from all sectors.
suganthi — all these lectures are free and open to the public.
The venue is not significant when it is free of charge.
Those who are interested will go wherever it is held, those who are not will find some excuse or the other for not going.

Speaking of elitism, the Gymkhana Club will not allow you further than the reception if you’re not wearing a shirt with a collar, like every “gentleman” should.
