I tried the canteen at the Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. They had only pongal. Most curiously, this was served on a plate with a plastic sheet cut to size and placed over it. My question is do they wash the plates before using them again or does the plastic sheet say it all? Also would it be cheaper and more hygienic to have a plantain leaf cut to shape? The pongal was ok, the ice cold sambar and chutney (both open to the four winds of heaven) were not.
